Thomas Rogers
Starting Point
My father was a History teacher and I spent my childhood being led around Britain and Europe in the pursuit of history. Thats what first got me into the idea of teaching it.
Career
In 2006, I spent 6 months of my gap year teaching out in Tanzania. Apart from meeting a lot of amazing people, it also made me understand the true value of education.
In 2008, after completing my PGCE, I started out as an NQT in North Wales. I spent 5 great years there and was fortunate to complete the iNet developing leaders program and take on my first TLR in 2010 as skills coordinator.
RogersHistory
In 2013, influenced by the work of Salman Khan (Khan academy) and latterly John Hegarty of HegartyMaths, I began to experiment in making my own learning tutorials.
When I was appointed Head of History, I began sharing these videos with my students. The reaction was terrific and many students said the videos were helping them to revise topics at home in their own time. I soon started to produce interactive quizzes and other resources that would compliment the videos. In August 2014, RogersHistory.com was born!
